Oil on canvas | Privately purchased for the collection

The varied directions of the cattle’s heads and their overlapping bodies create a quiet rhythm. Smaller cattle and fences in the distance give scale to the pasture, while the trees on the right balance the open ground on the left. Muted greens and earth colours, pale highlights on the cattle and warm greys in the sky connect the foreground group with the wider landscape.
