A tall green-glazed jug anchors the centre as a dark crock, wicker vessels and lemons spread to either side. Muted green walls, brown basketry and a pale cloth establish a sober key; warm yellow fruit and restrained red stripes provide small flashes of light. Broad, varied handling evokes glaze, wicker, fabric and peel without sacrificing the painting’s quiet domestic presence.
